31st Vertex International Workshop (Verexte2022) will be held at Tateyama Resort Hotel, Tateyama, Chiba, in October 5-8, 2020. This is an annual workshop discussing on the vertex detectors for the physics experiments. Prof. Hara, one of the International Advisory Committe Members of Vertex, chairs the Local Organization Committee. workshop homepage

  2022/09/01 Tsukuba Innovatin Arena (TIA) Light/Quantum measurement MG organises this year's workshop. Prof. Hara reports R&D activity on AC-LGAD.
 2022/06/24 At TCHoU research member meeting/activity and achievement reports, two talks were presented from the Division; K. Nakamura (KEK) and S. Honda (RadioAstronomy).
  Assistant Professor Shunsuke Honda of RadioAstronomy Group joined as a Division member (2022/6/1).
  Professor Kurachi retired from the collaborative member. Assistant Professor Miho Yamada of Metropolitan College of Industrial Technology has joined to collaborate on the SOI detector development (2022/4/1).

KITA Sayuka, 1st year of the Master's Program in Physics, has received the Student Presentation Award of the Physical Society of Japan at the Autumn Meeting 2021 of the Physical Society of Japan. This is awarded for her excellent presentation titled ”Research and development of new  type of LGAD tracking detector (AC-LGAD) evaluated using a test beam.”

January 27, 2020. 4th Workshop on "3D Integrated Semiconductor Imaging Sensors" was held at Tsukuba Epocal gathering 58 participants from industory and academic researchers. This was organized by "TIA Kakehasi" 3D Imaging Sensor Group, led by Prof. Kurachi (KEK and member adjunct of the Division). Three invited and three general talks were given on the leading edge 3D sensor technologies. Prof. Hara of the Division presented 3D integrated SOFIST sensor for high energy experiment.
 
December 14-18, 2019. 12th International "Hiroshima" Symposium on the Development and Application of Semiconductor Tracking Detectors (HSTD12) was held in Hiroshima. From the Division, Prof. Hara gave a talk on Charge Collection of Radiation Damaged Silicon Microstrip Detectors, and Mr. K. Sato (M1) on Characterization of Si Sensors irradiated up to 1e17/cm2, and Poster presention was given by Mr. H. Yamamura (SOIFST SOI pixel detector for the ILC) and by Mr. K. Onaru (LGAD detector timing measurement and simaulation for fine segmentation).  
  December 13, 2019, HoU Seminar will be given by Prof. N. Cartiglia on the development of LGAD detector.

  October 13-18, 2019, 28th International Workshop on Vertex detector "VERTEX2019" was held at Lopud, Croatia. S. Wada from HEP group presented poster on LGAD detector development, and Prof. K. Nakamura presented Hybrid pixel fabrication. Prof. K. Hara gave summary talk of the workshop on poster presentations.

  2018/6/1   Accepted as TIA Kakehasi 2018 ProjectThe project "Reseach on 3D imaging sensors" is accepted as a TIA-Kakehashi project. This project looks for high-functionality image sensors based on SOI technology using 3D stacking. The group is composed of members of KEK (Kurachi, leader), U Tsukuba (Hara), AIST (Kikuchi), U Tokyo (Ikeda).
  2018/5/30   Accepted as FJPPL 2018 ProjectThe project "ATLAS planar pixel sensor" is acceped as a France-Japan FJPPL projet. This project is conducted by Japanese groups (Hara/U Tsukuba, co-leader) and French groups (Lounis/LAL, co-leader).

Symposium11th International Hiroshima Symposium on Development and Application
of Semiconductor Tracking Detectors (HSTD11) and 2nd International
Workshop on SOI Pixel Detectors (SOIPIX2017) were held at Okinawa
Institue of Technology (OIST). From this Divisin, Prof. K. Hara talked
on "Radiaiton Hardness of SOI pixel devices" and Ms. S. Wada (M1)
talked on "Evaluatin of Characteristics of Hamamatsu Low Gain
Avalanche Detector (LGAD)". 187 researchers from all over the wrold
gathered to discuss the recent developmentz of particle detectors.

world-best spatial resolution (press release) 
The researchers from U Tsukuba (Prof. K. Hara, leader), KEK, Osaka U and Tohoku
U. succeeded in developing a particle sensor with a spatial resolution
better than 1 micron, first time ever, using a Silicon-On-Insulator
technology.
